Nick Carter, A.J. McLean And Joey Fatone Talk ‘Dead 7’

By Jeremy Singer.

Nick Carter’s upcoming zombie western Dead 7, finds the Backstreet Boy-turned film director bringing some ’90s musician pals along for the ride.

“I’m just passionate about it, I really am,” Carter tells ET Canada at Comic-Con International in San Diego.

Carter decided to cast Backstreet Boys’ A.J. McLean and former *NSYNC member Joey Fatone. McLean says the proposal was pretty straightforward.

“For me it was just – we’re in the middle of a tour,” says McLean, “He turns to say ‘wanna be in a movie?’ ‘Sure!’ ‘Okay, done!'”

And for Fatone, well, he can’t help but crack a joke.

“I looked at my phone,” says Fatone, “and I’m like ‘why is Nick Carter calling me? What does he want? What does he want?’

Dead 7 tells the story of a gang of bandits from the wild west, who try to rob a bank and then find themselves fighting against a town of zombies. The movie will be produced by The Asylum, the production company behind cult films like Sharknado and Z-Nation.

“I couldn’t be more stoked for him,” says McLean of his bandmate. “And this is a great concept. It’s the first time this has been done. Zombies. Western. It’s never been done before.”
