“Homeland” fans, it is time to say goodbye.
Star actress Claire Danes confirmed the upcoming eighth season of “Homeland” will mark the end of Showtime’s spy thriller.
Danes admitted to Howard Stern that she was “really conflicted” about her exit. “I mean, I’ll be ready. She’s a lot, this Carrie-freakin’ Mathison character,” said Danes. “It’s a workout, so I’ll be ready for a reprieve from that.”
The 39-year-old also revealed she and her husband Hugh Dancy are expecting their second child.
Executives from Showtime, meanwhile, have not made a decision beyond season 8. Word through the grapevine is the network is considering keeping the show alive with a new cast and crew, but the “Homeland” that fans have fallen in love with since 2011 will likely close its doors.
Showrunner Alex Gansa told The Hollywood Reporter he would be leaving the show at the end of season 8.
