“Pump the hate brakes, Thanos”.
“Deadpool 2” hits theatres in May and fans are getting one final look at the Merc with a Mouth. This time, he’s not just breaking the fourth wall, he’s shattering it.
The trailer, “from the studio who killed Wolverine,” showcases lots of action but also a bunch of comic book-centred jabs.
“You’re no f**king hero, you’re just a clown dressed up as a sex toy,” Cable says at one point, with Deadpool retorting, “That’s so dark, you sure you’re not from the DC Universe?”
Along with the biting commentary on the “DC vs. Marvel” battle at the box office, we get some proper introductions to some of the X-Force. After lots of fan speculation, Terry Crews is confirmed as Bedlam, Lewis Tan introduces us to Shatterstar and, of course, the brilliant Zazie Beetz introduces herself as Domino.
The trailer offers glimpses at Bill Skarsgard and Shioli Kutsuna’s still-unconfirmed characters, who will join Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Colossus, Weasel and Dopinder from the first film.
Oh, and how could we forget about Peter? It’s very likely the guy who just “saw the ad” won’t make it past this.
But after finding Peter’s twitter account (likely run by Rob Delaney, the actor behind the role), we may be wrong — the guy looks like he’s been practising his X-Force skills.
The sequel to the highest-grossing “X-Men” film of all time teases a storyline that sees Deadpool face off with his comic book nemesis Cable, played by “Avengers: Infinity War” star Josh Brolin, who seems intent on assassinating a young boy, played by Julian Dennison.
For any “Goonies” fans, there’s a reference in there for you, too.
“Deadpool 2” hits theatres May 18. Watch the trailer above.
