The countdown is on! As we wait for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to walk down the aisle on May 19, ET Canada is rounding up everything we know about the royal event of the year.
Experts predict Markle will opt for a dress by Canadian designer Erdem. “My money is the designer Erdem,” says Shinan Govani. “She has worn him a fair bit as has Kate. Like, he’s become the acceptable designer for the young royals. I think in terms of messaging it would be great because he’s Canadian.”

Alison McGill of Wedding Bells magazine agrees: “A great choice for her would be Erdem — he’s Canadian, loved by Brits and based in London and loved by Kate Middleton,” McGill says. “My money would be on them.”
The Palace has confirmed that Markle’s father Thomas will be walking his daughter down the aisle. It’s also been announced that the bride will travel with her mother, Doria Ragland, in the car to the chapel.
Author Andrew Morton, who has published several books on the royal family over the years, had previously said there won’t be many of Markle’s family members present in Windsor.

“I spoke to members of the Markle family over the last few days and they emphasized to me that not one member of the Markle family has been invited,” Morton tells ET Canada.
While some members of Markle’s family may be absent by choice, the ceremony could possibly feature a tribute to Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana.
“Without a doubt, Prince Harry has been more open about his mother’s death in the past year than he ever has been,” says royal expert Katie Nicholl. “He has opened up in a way that is very unusual for a member of the royal family. I think Meghan has played a role in that.”
As for Markle’s royal title, it’s believed she’ll become the Duchess of Sussex in her transition from “commoner” to “royal.”
After the couple ties the knot, they’ll reportedly head off to Namibia to spend their honeymoon at a remote luxury camping ground. Experts also wager the couple’s first official royal visit will be to Canada, much like Prince William and Kate Middleton.
