Jillian Harris confirmed she’s expecting her second baby earlier this week and she’s now opened up about suffering from depression during her first trimester.
The 38-year-old, who also shares 1-year-old son Leo with fiance Justin Pasutto, spoke to Today about her second pregnancy being way harder than her first.
The former “Bachelorette” star explained, “Pregnancy is supposed to be such a happy time… but I was just so exhausted and sick that I wasn’t happy.”
Harris continued: “My pregnancy with Leo was a breeze. Women would say, ‘How do you feel?’ And I would say, ‘I feel wonderful!’ And they would say, ‘Oh my gosh, you’re so lucky.’ And I would think, ‘What’s the alternative?’ And now I know.”

Baby #2!!!!! 👶🏼♥️🐶💑👶🏼♥️ Beyond grateful, excited and FULL of love for this next stage of our lives! I’ve been so excited to tell you guys EVERYTHING… the last 3 months have been… interesting… obviously exciting but SO sick and exhaustion I never knew was possible. The first trimester beat the crap out of me! lol … Thank you @justinpasutto for being SO patient with me, no more freshly cooked meals, 7pm bedtimes for mama, a messy house, piled up laundry, crabby, and unshaven legs… lol I’ve been a MESS but feeling so much better these days!!!! MORE on the pregnancy on the Blog and a special vlog on our @youtube channel (link in profile) … Thank you ALL already for the love, support and ADVICE!!! We feel so lucky to have you all and be able to share this with you!!!!
The Canadian interior designer went on to say that she found herself struggling to do daily tasks around the house, such as laundry or showering.
Harris shared, “I wasn’t doing anything. I wanted to be a good mom to Leo and I wanted to take care of the baby inside of me and I could barely do that.”
“I was just so physically ill and my body felt like it was shutting down. I wasn’t able to do anything I usually do. I felt so useless.”
She added that Pasutto noticed the changes in his other half, with Harris admitting she ended up breaking down after he spoke to her about it.
The star recalled: “At one point, he was like, ‘I know you’re struggling, but if there is any way you could give me an indication that you’re happy, I would love to just see you smile.’ I looked at him and just started crying.”
“I kept praying it would pass and I’m so grateful that it has. But there are women who experience these emotions their entire pregnancy.”
Harris’ comments come after she took to her website to break the news about her baby news by sharing an adorable clip.
