While Canada braces for full legislation of marijuana this summer, comedians Cheech & Chong were ahead of the curve, proudly getting stoned — for comedy purposes, of course — for more than 40 years.
In a chat with “The IMDb Show Lounging with Legends” (above), comedy partners Richard “Cheech” Marin and Tommy Chong reveal that they’ve each gotten high with all members of The Beatles with one notable exception.
“I’ve gotten high with every Beatle except Paul [McCartney],” says Edmonton-born Chong, adding, “That’s my bucket list!”
“Me too,” Marin chimes in, “yeah, same one.”
As Marin points out, not managing to light up with Sir Paul hasn’t been through lack of trying.
“I was waiting for him to land in Texas, I was in Texas and they were playing the stadium there,” he explains. “And were staying in the hotel. I said, ‘This is it, I’m going to stay in the lobby with my joint, and we’re going to get high.’ They landed, did the show, got on the plane and never came to the hotel. I hate them now!”
During their chat with Kerri Doherty of “The IMDB Show”, the weed-loving duo also discussed their casting choices if Hollywood ever decides to film a remake of their classic stoner comedy “Up in Smoke”.
“Kevin Hart and The Rock!” quips Chong, prompting Cheech to remark, “Boy, are you going to get letters.”
