One of the staples of late-night talk shows are animal segments, offering unscripted moments when the critters do something unexpected.
That was certainly the case on Friday’s edition of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” when the host welcomed wildlife host Coyote Peterson of “Brave Wilderness”, who brought along a few non-human pals.
One of these was a massive iguana, which Peterson placed on host Stephen Colbert’s talk show desk so he could pet its spiny back.
“Wow, he’s really beautiful,” marvelled Colbert as he stroked the iguana’s back — and then stopped in mid-sentence when the reptile unleashed a torrent of urine all over the desk.
“OK!” said Colbert, jumping up and grabbing a box of tissue, frantically tossing tissue on the desk as he tried to soak up a fairly large puddle of iguana pee.
“I would rather it bit me,” quipped the irked host to the audience.
“See, he knows what it takes to make a viral video,” Peterson joked, but Colbert did not take the bait. “Let’s move on,” he responded.
“You don’t want to feed him some bananas?” Peterson asked Colbert, offering a bunch of bananas to the host.
“Nope,” Colbert snipped. “I, uh, don’t want to load him up again.”
