The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has revealed their nominees for the Class of 2016.

The latest crop of potential HOF full-timers features a genre-hopping mix of notable names that can all boast a worthy legacy. Pop icon Janet Jackson is the marquee name in a nominee collection that also includes Chaka Khan, Chic, Chicago, Cheap Trick, Deep Purple, the Cars, The J.B.’s, Los Lobos, N.W.A, Nine Inch Nails, the Smiths, Steve Miller Band and Yes. To qualify for a nomination, an act needs to have released their first single or album in 1990 or earlier.

2016’s inductees will be revealed in December with the chosen class determined by the votes of 800 artists, historians and music industry insiders. Once again, the Hall of Fame vote will also have a “fan ballot”; that will be included in the final tally. Consider it your opportunity to finally put Chic into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
