Superhero movies may be all the rage these days but it was a different story in the early and mid-2000s.

In 2004, famed actress Halle Berry starred in a film called “Catwoman”, very loosely based on DC Comics’ character of the same name.

The Warners Bros. movie was universally panned by critics, received seven Golden Raspberry nominations — winning in four categories, including Worst Picture, Worst Actress, and Worst Director — and is ranked among the worst movies of all time.

But Berry, now 51, does not regret her role in the film for a minute.

“Everybody around me said, ‘Girl, don’t do it, it’s gonna be the death of you, it’s gonna end your career,'” Berry told guests at the 2018 Matrix Awards in New York City on Monday. “Well, guess what I did! I followed my intuition and I did a movie called ‘Catwoman’… and it bombed! Miserably.

“But I assumed it. Because you know what? While it ‘failed’ to most people, it wasn’t a failure for me. Because guess what? I met so many interesting people that I wouldn’t have met otherwise, I got to learn two forms of martial arts and I got to learn what not to do, and learning what not to do is as important as learning what to do.”

Oh, and don’t forget the sweet, sweet dollars: “And I got that gift, and I got a s**tload of money that changed my life.”

The “Monster’s Ball” Oscar winner said following your intuition won’t guarantee success but it will teach you the “exact lesson” you need or get you the “exact accolades” you deserve.

Berry was honoured at Monday’s awards ceremony.
