Kanye West took to Twitter Wednesday to confirm that he and manager Scooter Braun had parted ways, with him insisting, “I’m nobody’s client.”
West, who proceeded to go on a rant about how successful Yeezy has been, posted: “I no longer have a manager. I can’t be managed.”
He continued, “Yes I got rid of my last lawyer why? Because he wouldn’t come to work full time. I also asked my last manager to come work full time for Yeezy of course the last lawyer and manager said no. So now I hired a CEO and a CFO and I have two full time lawyers as of now.”
West’s comments come after multiple reports said West gave his core team an ultimatum this week to conduct all business through his Yeezy organization. In the aftermath of that decision, West and Braun “parted on good terms,” a source told Variety.
The ultimatum also involved his attorney Peter Paterno and a quote from Variety stated “currently, the rapper does not have a manager or an attorney representing him.”
In related news, a tweet from People read, “Kanye West ‘seems to be on the edge’ and ‘is very hard to deal with right now.” West responded by tweeting, “Don’t play yourself” to People.
His mother in law Kris Jenner quickly shut down the headline by tweeting, “Nope… not true!”
The 21-time Grammy winner recently announced plans to release five albums in five consecutive weeks.
