Sterling K. Brown may have played T’Challa’s uncle in “Black Panther”, but the Golden Globe winner has a more powerful role in mind for his next superhero blockbuster.

“I wouldn’t mind being the Green Lantern. It would be fun. I’ve been watching cartoons since I was a kid,” Brown explained. “There was a black man portraying the Green Lantern. To see someone who looked like me meant a lot.”

Multiple characters have taken on the mantle of Green Lantern throughout the history of DC Comics. The “black man” Brown refers to is John Stewart, the second African-American superhero to appear in DC Comics.

Brown, 42, also spoke briefly about his hit show “This is Us” and how the tearjerker drama is not what has him blubbering like a baby.

Brown was one of the gala’s honourees.
