William Shatner remembers the iconic “Miss Congeniality” “Perfect Date” joke like it was yesterday, and in celebration of April 25, Shatner is partnering with Match.com to help customers with their perfect date.
The hit flick starring the 87-year-old actor, along with Sandra Bullock and Heather Burns, hit theatres in 2000 but die-hard fans still honour the memorable moment.

In the film, pageant host Stand Fields (Shatner) asks Miss Rhode Island Cheryl Fraiser (Burns) to describe her “perfect date.”
“That’s a tough one,” the character in the film said. “I’d have to say April 25 because it’s not too hot, not too cold. All you need is a light jacket.”
Now, in a partnership with Match.com, Shatner is asking Match users to describe their ideal date, “Hey Miss Rhode Island, who knew that your response was going to turn into a national holiday? The perfect date, remember? ‘Not too hot, not too cold, just bring a light jacket,'” Shatner said in a video posted to Instagram. “And to think it was 20 years ago that I asked that question…Well, I’m back and I’ve teamed up with Match to ask that same iconic question, ‘What is your perfect date?’”
Shatner told his Instagram followers that he will be checking back and will choose his favourite response to win $500 towards their dream first date.
“So, tag the tag; post the post; do the darn thing; and have a perfect date,” he added. “And, don’t forget to bring your light jacket.”
