Prince William will be Prince Harry’s best man when he marries Meghan Markle on May 19 at Windsor Castle, it’s been confirmed.
Kensington Palace posted the news on Twitter Thursday morning, with them confirming William, 35, had been asked and was “honoured” to be taking on the role.
Harry, 33, served as William’s best man when he married Kate Middleton, 36, in 2011.
The Palace, who also shared an adorable snap of the pair dressed up in police outfits as young boys, announced: “The Duke of Cambridge is honoured to have been asked, and is very much looking forward to supporting his brother.”
William was then quizzed about being Harry’s best man as the pair arrived to open the Greenhouse Sports Centre in London Thursday.
The Duke of Cambridge told reporters: “It feels great. I’m thrilled and delighted obviously. Revenge is sweet, I’ll be looking forward to it.”
Harry then replied when questioned about how he asked his brother to do the honour, “I went down on one knee, he’s known for months.”
The news comes after actress Priyanka Chopra told People that she “will not be a bridesmaid” on her friend Markle’s special day.
She explained, “I’m super excited about her and her big day. It’s not just going to be life-changing for both of them, it’s life-changing for the world that needs to see strong women as icons, and I think Meghan has the potential to be that.”
Chopra did confirm to Us Weekly that she was on the guest list, though.
More than 600 guests have been invited to the upcoming ceremony, with 1,000 members of the public also being welcomed into the grounds of the castle.
An additional 200 guests, including British girl band the Spice Girls, have been invited to the evening reception.
