A handful of Team USA’s biggest Olympic stars will not meet with U.S. President Donald Trump at Friday’s White House visit.
Figure skaters Adam Rippon and Gus Kenworthy, as well as Alpine skier Lindsey Vonn are boycotting the photo-op with Trump.
“The resistance is real,” Kenworthy tweeted on Thursday.
There are still many athletes expected to attend the photo-op.
Kenworthy’s decision is no impulse, as he told USA Today in Sept. 2017 he had no interest in visiting the White House while Trump sat in the Oval Office.
“I have no interest in going. That’s a super small form of protest, but I didn’t vote for this administration,” he said. “I am not standing by any of the policies that they’re enforcing and things that they’re doing.”
