Gwyneth Paltrow comes from a family of talented actresses.
The daughter of Emmy- and Tony Award-winning actress Blythe Danner and director Bruce Paltrow invited her mom onto the latest edition of the goop podcast.
Paltrow, 45, and Danner, 75, talked about the former’s rebellious youth and how Danner worked with Ben Affleck’s dad years before either Paltrow or Affleck were born.
The mother-daughter duo talked about how Danner tried to sway Gwyneth to be more conforming of a proper young girl, which did not work whatsoever.
Following college, Danner got her big acting break with a theatre company in Fishkill, New York, and performed in The Glass Menagerie. She next found herself at a theatre in Boston where Dustin Hoffman was performing. Ben Affleck’s dad, Jimmy, was the stage manager and the two developed a good friendship.
Decades later, Paltrow and Affleck engaged in a romantic relationship from 1997 to 2000 and even co-starred in the romantic drama “Bounce”.
And speaking of relationships, Paltrow asked her mom about whether or not the 75-year-old actress was interested in getting back into the dating game. “Do you want a boyfriend?” Paltrow asked.
“No. I have no interest. Really I don’t. If I got my heart broken, I’d probably jump off the railing,” Danner responded. “And I don’t want to be bored, so it’s one or the other.”
Paltrow’s solution? “I can also go to Goop.com and get you a vibrator.” Danner replied, “Thanks very much, but no thanks.”
