Few films remain as beloved as 2005’s “The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants” and its 2008 sequel. Now, one of the film’s stars has some exciting news to share about a potential third instalment.
Alexis Bledel dropped by “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Thursday and revealed that a new “Travelling Pants” sequel is in the works.
Discussing how she and co-stars Amber Tamblyn, Blake Lively, and America Ferrera remain BFFs, Bledel — soon to be seen in the second season of “The Handmaid’s Tale” — told host Jimmy Fallon that the quartet don’t get together as often as they’d like.
“We don’t see each other a lot because of everybody’s work and family and everything, but when everyone’s in town we do,” said the “Gilmore Girls” star.
“But we just pitched a third movie and I hope it comes together.”
Rumours of a third “Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants” movie have been bubbling for the past few years; Tamblyn fanned the flames last month when she shared a throwback pic of herself and her cast mates while sending birthday greetings to Ferrera.
Lively also hinted at a third film in a recent interview, telling ET that she’s up for doing it. “I think it could really happen. I think that people who love the movie want to see it. So, I mean, fans have gotten bigger movies made. ‘Deadpool’ is all thanks to the fans. So I’m saying we’ll do it.”
