Hugh Jackman took to social media on Friday to share a heartfelt video birthday message only to be interrupted by R-rated anti-hero Deadpool.
The video sees Jackman in a bathrobe, sitting on the edge of a bed and delivering a happy birthday greeting to an unknown recipient. The 49-year-old actor is then distracted by a voice off-screen singing “Tomorrow” from the musical “Annie”.
As the camera pans around, we see the performance is coming from Ryan Reynolds, in full Deadpool costume, sprawled out on the bed. One can only imagine what led to this weird yet wonderful situation.
“Don’t pay him too much attention,” Jackman says, as he turns the camera back to face him. Deadpool then breaks into a hilarious rendition of “Who Let The Dogs Out,” which Jackman joins in on.
The two actors teamed up yesterday at Fox’s CinemaCon presentation, which began with a comedic musical number featuring Deadpool and the “Logan” star. According to Deadline, the video included humorous references to the upcoming Disney/Fox merger, and Jackman’s musical movie “The Greatest Showman”.
Fans hoping to see a Wolverine and Deadpool crossover movie shouldn’t get their hopes up though, as Jackman has stated that “Logan” was his final time playing the popular “X-Men” superhero. For now, hotel room musical duets will have to do.
“Deadpool 2” will be released in theatres in May.
