Camila Cabello is opening up about life with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
Speaking with Cosmopolitan U.K. for the magazine’s June cover story, the 21-year-old singer-songwriter reveals her personal struggle with the disorder.
“OCD is weird. I laugh about it now,” she says. “Everybody has different ways of handling stress. And, for me, if I get really stressed about something, I’ll start to have the same thought over and over again.”
Cabello says that it wasn’t until she was officially diagnosed with the disorder that she began to feel better about the thoughts that crossed her mind.
She adds, “When I found out, and [learned] how to step back, it made me feel so much better. I feel so much more in control of it now. To the point where I’m just like, ‘Aha! OK, this is just my OCD.'”
This summer, the former Fifth Harmony member will join Taylor Swift on her “Reputation” tour. “I love her,” she says. “We just talk about boys. She loves love, and we love talking about it. It’s fun to just vent and talk and dream.”
However, Cabello admits that hitting the road is difficult when it means being away from her family. “It’s the hard part – being away from my family,” she says. “I would never want to move to L.A. because I can’t live away from them.”
