Katie Couric is opening up about the sexual misconduct scandal surrounding her former “Today” co-host Matt Lauer.
During her appearance on “The Wendy Williams Show” Tuesday, Couric looked back on the difficult time: “It’s been a very painful time for a lot of people who worked with Matt, knew him, really care about him and who never witnessed — or experienced — any of this behaviour that’s obviously being talked about.”
Adding, “I don’t know the full extent of all these things that happened. But I can only talk about my personal experience and I was always treated respectfully and appropriately.”
And when Williams asked if Lauer would ever return to television, Couric replied, “That’s not really for me to say, Wendy… I don’t know.”
Lauer was fired from his anchor role on the morning show in November after several wome
n came forward with accusations of sexual assault against him.
