Forget rap beef, Drake has basketball beef.
The “God’s Plan” rapper was captured on camera having a pair of shouting matches with 6’10, 270-pound Cleveland Cavaliers player Kendrick Perkins. Drake, for reference, is reportedly 5’11 and weighs 172 pounds.
Drake, 31, and Perkins, 33, first exchanged words during the end of the first half at Tuesday’s first game of the NBA Playoffs Conference semi-finals between the Cavaliers and the Toronto Raptors.
Both parties were separated by staff and other bodies, but that was not the last time the two would interact. Following the Raptors’ heartbreaking 113-112 loss at Air Canada Centre, Drizzy and Perkins got into it again.
And according to ESPN, NBA has officially warned Drake to refrain from the use of “bad language” at games.
From the footage, it is unclear what words were exchanged and neither party has yet to reveal what caused such a commotion, but the Toronto Star‘s Bruce Arthur reports that Drake and Perkins continued to exchange words “all the way into the tunnel, with Drake calling Perkins ‘a f**king p**sy’ and calling for him to come out. ‘I’m here in real life,’ he said. He was mad.”
However, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Perkins related a slightly different story in a text message, saying he was “talking to my old teammate Serge (Ibaka) walking into halftime telling him ‘We about to win this game’ and Drake butted in talking s**t to me. So I said something back to him.”
And what did he say? According to ESPN, Perkins later explained, “[Drake] said something slick, so I said something back: ‘Sit your ass down and watch the game.'”
Drake weighed in as well, with ESPN reporting that he did a little trash-talking in a comment to an Instagram post, writing, “I just said I like the hem on his capris.”
On the plus side, Drake and Lebron James seem to be on good terms!
