One of the biggest indie comedies of the 1990s is about to make a small-screen comeback, with Variety reporting that streaming service Hulu has ordered a TV reboot of “Four Weddings and a Funeral”.

The upcoming limited-run series is coming from “The Mindy Project” star/creator Mindy Kaling, who will serve as writer and executive producer alongside Matt Warburton.

The original, which was released in 1994, followed the budding romance between a Brit named Charles (Hugh Grant) and American Carrie (Andie MacDowell) as they encounter each other via a series of social events.

Reportedly, the plot of the new series, which has yet to be cast, will roughly follow the same trajectory as the film, with the action taking place during the titular four weddings and one funeral.

No premiere date has yet been set.
