Plenty of characters died over the course of the Harry Potter series and J.K. Rowling is sorry about that.
The author once again decided to commemorate the anniversary of the fictional Battle of Hogwarts on May 2 by apologizing for killing off fan-favourite house elf Dobby.
Rowling started the May 2 apology tradition in 2016 by expressing her sorrow at writing the death of Remus Lupin during the battle.
In 2017, the author tweeted an apology for killing Severus Snape.
Fans on Twitter appreciated Rowling’s apology for killing Dobby, but of course, just bringing up the death brought out a flood of emotions.
