Kim Kardashian wants to help an incarcerated woman get out of prison and she’s gone to the White House for help.
The “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star has been in talks with Ivanka Trump’s husband Jared Kushner about a “possible presidential pardon or clemency” for Alice Marie Johnson, E! News reported.
The 62-year-old great-grandmother has been serving a life sentence for a first-time, nonviolent drug crime since 1996.
In a video published by Mic last year, Johnson said, “I had been in management for 10 years when I lost my job. I struggled financially, I couldn’t find a job fast enough to take care of my family.”
Kardashian tweeted about the unfairness of Johnson’s sentence after seeing the video.
According to Us Weekly, sources say that after hearing Johnson’s story, she and Kanye West have arranged a high-profile criminal attorney for her along with paying her legal fees.
“I felt like a failure, I went into a complete panic and out of desperation, I made one of the worst decisions of my life to make some quick money,” she continued. “I became involved in a drug conspiracy.”
