The music queen of Canada is back.
Canadian superstar Celine Dion premiered her new song “Ashes” on “Good Morning America” on Thursday, followed shortly with an epic music video.
The icon quickly took to social media to share her thoughts on the new single.
Deadpool, a.k.a Ryan Reynolds, showed some love for Dion’s new song on Twitter:
Dion can be seen singing passionately while Deadpool, gracefully (and hilariously) dances around her, but that’s not Reynolds who is dancing behind the iconic mask.
The actor shared on Instagram a behind-the-scenes look at filming: “Ever wonder, ‘How does Ryan Reynolds dance so beautifully? Did he have 8 bones surgically removed from his body in order to move as if a graceful swan had sex with Fred Astaire?’ The answer may surprise you. Yes. I did have 8 bones removed from my body. But the dancing was all Yanis Marshall.”
Ever wonder, “How does Ryan Reynolds dance so beautifully? But the dancing was all @yanismarshall. This man is not just a dancer… he’s an elite athlete, hero, and all around hilarious person. Follow him on Instagram. Put him in movies. Throw confetti at his feet when you see him. He is a gift to this weary world. #Deadpool2
Yanis Marshall, the dancer in Deadpool’s suit, earned his start on “Britain’s Got Talent” in 2014.
At the end of the video, Deadpool and Dion have some hilarious back-and-forth banter, with the not-so-superhero praising the singer’s performance, but wanting her to redo it.
“Well, it’s too good. Yeah, this is ‘Deadpool 2’, not ‘Titanic’,” he says. “Alright you’re at like an 11 and we need to get you down to a five, five and a half tops. Just phone it in.”
“Listen, this thing only goes to 11, so beat it Spider-Man,” Dion cleverly claps back, to which Deadpool replies: “God, I should’ve asked *NSYNC”.
The powerful ballad is part of the upcoming “Deadpool 2” soundtrack, which also features songs by Cher, Dolly Parton, and Peter Gabriel.
This is Dion’s first English-language single since she released “Recovering” back in September 2016.
Following its release, 20th Century Fox shared behind-the-scenes footage from the filming of the “Ashes” video:
Earlier last month, fans were teased with a Celine-Deadpool connection after a promotional video for online fundraising platform Omaze saw Deadpool wearing a pink suit, saying: “My new obsession? Pink. The colour, not the pop singer. Personally, I’m more of a Celine kind of guy.”
Fans couldn’t help but share their excitement for the new song and video on Twitter.
The entire “Deadpool 2: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack” drops May 18.
