Playing at the Telenor Arena outside Oslo Wednesday night on their European tour, frontman James Hatfield and drummer Lars Ulrich left the stage to bassist Robert Trujillo and guitarist Kirk Hammett, who decided to cover a famous pop song.

“Try and guess what this is and, if you know it, sing it,” Trujillo said to the audience before launching in to the opening riff from the ’80s classic “Take on Me” by Norwegian band A-ha.

The crowd at the concert delightedly sang along until the Metallica members transitioned into one of their own tracks, “(Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth”.

According to NME, Trujillo and Hammett have been playing a different cover referencing the city they’re in each night on tour.

Metallica will be back touring in North America in September and into 2019.
