Katy Perry did not hold back after watching a blistering performance from contestant Cade Foehner on Sunday’s edition of “American Idol”, fanning herself and gushing over the 21-year-old singer’s take on Prince’s “Jungle Love”.
‘I know that you’re a man of God but honestly I was feeling a little backslidden watching over you,” said Perry, 33, as she weighed in on Foehner, who is also a Christian minister. “I don’t know what is coming over me, I could be your babysitter.”
“The children are out of control,” joked fellow judge Lionel Richie as Perry fanned herself, joking that her mother, who was in the audience, was likewise a big fan of Foehner.
“Mom, are you OK? My mom’s praying in tongues right now,” the “Roar” singer quipped.
Foehner has consistently impressed the “American Idol” judges with his performances on the show, sailing through to land as one of the top 5 alongside Caleb Lee Hutchinson, Gabby Barrett, Maddie Poppe and Michael J. Woodard.
In fact, Foehner’s performance of Santana’s “Black Magic Woman” a few weeks back led Luke Bryan to reveal that Perry isn’t the singer’s only female fan. “My wife loves you, by the way,” said Bryan, adding, “A little mad about that.” Watch:
