Rick Moranis has been essentially retired from acting since 1997, but he’s about to make a rare TV appearance as one of his most beloved characters.

According to USA Today, the 65-year-old Canadian actor is set to reprise the role of Dark Helmet from the Mel Brooks comedy “Spaceballs” on Wednesday’s episode of “The Goldbergs”.

Moranis will voice the classic Darth Vader spoof character in one of young Adam Goldberg’s dreams, battling the Schwartz – a parody of the Force – in his bedroom.

Adam then promises Dark Helmet he’ll make sure a “Spaceballs” sequel gets made.

Speaking about getting the “SCTV” star to take a break from retirement, show creator Adam F. Goldberg said, “I truly think Rick Moranis gave the most underrated and brilliant comedic performance in any ‘80s movie as Dark Helmet.”

“I’ve been a lifelong fan of his work and became obsessed with having him reprise the role on my show,” he continued. “As an added bonus, maybe this even gets ‘Spaceballs’ back in the conversation, and I can get my dream of helping make a sequel!”
