“Sherlock Holmes 3” is set to hit cinema screens on December 25, 2020, it’s been revealed.
Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law will both be reprising their roles as the British detective (played by Downey Jr.) and his famous sidekick Dr. Watson (played by Law) in the eagerly-anticipated flick.
According to Variety, no director has been attached to the movie as of yet, but it has been announced that Chris Brancato has written the script, with Susan Downey, Joel Silver and Lionel Wigram producing “Sherlock Holmes 3”.
The film comes after “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows” was released back in 2011, with the second movie in the franchise bagging a whopping $545.4 million at the worldwide box office.
The original film was released in 2009 and took in $524 million globally. Guy Ritchie directed the first two movies.
Producer Silver spoke out about the upcoming flick last month, with him confirming that another “Sherlock Holmes” movie was in the works.
He told Cinema Blend: “‘Sherlock Holmes 3’ is happening, that’s coming. That’ll probably get done maybe about a year from now we’ll shoot that, we’re excited.”
