Clayne Crawford has reportedly been fired from the TV series “Lethal Weapon” according to multiple sources.
The star had been disciplined for bad behaviour including “emotional abuse” and “creating a hostile environment” for cast and crew on the set of the series. Now, The Hollywood Reporter claims Crawford, 40, has been axed and producers are on the hunt for a replacement.
People backed up reports that offers have been made to actors to replace Crawford as Martin Riggs for a potential third season but, so far, all have passed. Fox is expected to make the announcement regarding the third season on Monday in New York at the network’s upfronts to ad buyers.
Clayne responded to the news of his firing on Twitter Tuesday with a photo in which he is shrugging.
After word of his behaviour was made public last month, Crawford apologized for his actions, the first of which he claimed had stemmed from what he deemed to be unsafe working conditions.
“I absolutely love, respect and care for my crew and cast, and would never intentionally jeopardize so many jobs,” he wrote, adding he spoke with HR and completed company-mandated therapy among other repatriations. “I am incredibly sorry if my passion for doing good work has ever made anyone feel less than comfortable on our set, or feel less than celebrated for their efforts. Furthermore, I apologize to all the crew and cast for any negative attention ‘Lethal Weapon’ is receiving because of these incidents.”
The rest of the “Lethal Weapon” cast including co-star Damon Wayans have contracts that are set to expire on June 30.
Neither Fox nor reps for Crawford have addressed reports of his firing.
