Taylor Swift referenced her feud with Kim Kardashian as she kicked off her Reputation tour in Glendale Tuesday night.
Swift fans will remember the infamous brawl back in 2016 when Kanye West and his wife called out the “Bad Blood” singer for saying that she’d given the rapper permission to use her name in his track “Famous”.
Kardashian also took to Twitter to seemingly call Swift a snake at the time, which resulted in an array of people bombarding the musician with the emoji via social media.
The whole thing clearly still plays on Swift’s mind, with her telling the crowd at Tuesday’s gig: “A couple of years ago, someone called me a snake on social media and it caught on.
“And then a lot of people called me a lot of names on social media. I went through some really low times for a while because of it. I went through some times when I didn’t know if I was going to get to do this anymore.”
She added, “I wanted to send a message to you guys that if someone uses name-calling to bully you on social media, and even if a lot of people jump on board with it, that doesn’t have to defeat you. It can strengthen you instead.
“I learned a really important lesson and that has to do with how much you value your reputation. And I think the lesson is that you shouldn’t care so much if you feel misunderstood by a lot of people who don’t know you, as long as you feel understood by the people who do know you.”
Despite Swift, who includes numerous snake references in her show, clearly still not being a huge fan of Kardashian, one person whom she has seemingly buried the hatchet with is Katy Perry.
The “Swish Swish” singer sent Swift a literal olive branch along with a heartfelt letter, which the “Love Story” hitmaker posted online.
