Jacob Tremblay accidentally unleashes the return of the universe’s most deadly alien hunter in the teaser for “The Predator”. Oops.
The pint-sized Canadian actor stars as Rory, a young boy with autism who discovers the iconic helmet of the Predator in a box and unknowingly triggers the return of the lethal hunter to Earth.
The rebooted franchise offers several upgrades from the original 1987 “Predator” with Arnold Schwarzenegger: These bad boys have spliced their DNA with other species to become even deadlier than their predecessors. And director Shane Black (“Iron Man 3”) should know — he starred as the ill-fated radio operator Rick Hawkins in the original movie.
“The Predator” has a rag-tag team of tough guys and scientists played by Boyd Holbrook, Olivia Munn, Keegan-Michael Key and Sterling K. Brown to help save the universe from the Predator.
Black’s take on the franchise has been in the works since 2014 and comes after two “Alien” crossover films in 2004 and 2007 and the first attempt at a reboot in 2010 with Adrien Brody and Laurence Fishburne. Black’s movie is billed as a “reimagining” of the story and moves the setting back to Earth after the Brody-Fishburne movie moved the action to outer space.
