Surprise! Duran Duran are pretty fond of the work of Duran Duran and that extends to their 1985 Bond theme “A View to a Kill”; too.
The new wave icons shared their thoughts on Sam Smith’s latest entry into the canon of Bond songs and say their tune is the superior 007 track. Don’t worry, they also say nice things about Smith.
“I caught a little bit of [Smith’s song], it’s not my favourite – I prefer ours,”; offered Simon Le Bon when chatting with Gigwise at the Q Awards. “But he’s Sam Smith, he’s got a beautiful voice and I’m a big fan of him. I support him and what he stands for.”;

“I always think it needs something exciting, something surprising, something that shocks you a little bit,”; offered the former MTV staple. “Whether it’s a chord change, a rhythmic shift or even a lyrical twist – a surprise is always a good thing.”;
Duran Duran released their latest record Paper Gods last month and became the band’s first album to hit the U.S. Top 10 since 1993.
