Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price and wife Angela were preparing to announce some big news to their friends and family, about to reveal they were expecting their first child in the spring.
Before they had the chance, however, some media outlets leaked the news, leaving the couple in the awkward position of seeing friends and family learn the news by reading about it on the Internet.
Angela, who also appears on reality show Hockey Wives, is firing back, blasting the leakers in a scathing blog post.
“We wanted to officially announce our big news, we are expecting!!”; she writes. “Well, I wish this was us actually announcing our big news…but unfortunately this exciting moment was stolen from us.”;
She adds: “A gossip website took the initiative to announce our pregnancy over the weekend. We were lucky that most reputable media outlets seemed to have basic human decency and did not share the story. That was until last night when a classless reporter overheard a conversation and ran straight to twitter.”;
Why, she writes, “would a first time mother and father want to be the ones to announce this big news, when heartless media can do it for you?!”;
To the “classless reporter”; and media outlets that “had the audacity”; to run with it, she says: “Shame on you. That was disrespectful, tasteless and just plain cruel. Announcing you are going to be parents for the first time is literally a once in a life time experience that you took away from us.”;
