Shanne Doherty is on the mend after breast reconstruction surgery, two years after undergoing a single mastectomy following her breast cancer diagnosis.
Now cancer-free, the former “Beverly Hills, 90210” star shared a photo from the hospital, thanking her mom on Mother’s Day for her support during her latest surgical procedure.
“Happy Mother’s Day mom. I only bring you to the best places…..hospital food..yum,” Doherty, 47, wrote in the caption to accompany a photo of herself in a hospital bed while mom Rosa Doherty gave her a hug.
“I love you,” she continued. “Thank you for always being there. I’d write more but pain pills are kicking in. @themamarosa #reconstruction.”
Doherty opened up about her mastectomy in a 2016 interview with ET, shortly after revealing her diagnosis.
“He didn’t want me to wake up with absolutely nothing,” she told ET of her surgeon’s approach. “It was very important to him that I didn’t have that experience, and so, he put an expander in, so I have a tiny something there. It’s cute and sometimes we fill it up and make it bigger, and sometimes we reduce it.”
She added: “I’m being so personal right now. But I think a lot of women can probably go, ‘Yeah, I’ve been through that.’ It’s great though, you get to pick out what size you want.”
