It is the “blue or gold dress” all over again.
A new Twitter debate has erupted on social media, pitting friends-against-friends, relatives-against-relatives, and celebrities-against-celebrities.
The public seems to be split on whether the robotic voice in this four-second audio clip says “Yanny” or “Laurel.”
The audio clip was published by Cloe Feldman and has been viewed more than 3 million times, liked more than 28,000 times, and retweeted more than 13,000 times.
According to the Internet’s vigilante mythbusters, altering the pitch of the audio will result in people hearing “Laurel” and “Yanny” at different frequencies.
This new gem is remincisent of 2015’s “the dress” debate, in which users were torn on whether a picture of a dress was black and blue or white and gold.
