Now that “Property Brothers” star Drew Scott and longtime girlfriend Linda Phan have tied the knot in Italy, the newlyweds are opening up about what was their dream wedding for the upcoming issue of People.
The couple were married in an outdoor ceremony at the Piazza del Borgo in Puglia, Italy, capping off a week-long celebration for the couple and more than 300 guests, including Scott’s twin brother (and “Property Brothers” co-star) Jonathan and their older brother J.D., who shared best-man duties.
“It meant the world to us to not just have one ceremony and then it’s over, but to actually be able to have a few days with all our friends and family,” says Scott of the celebratory week. “I can’t even describe the feeling — it was like a dream to see all these people we know together in one place.”
As he explains, the locale of the wedding was paramount: “There was never a thought of doing anything else for both of us.
“A whole week to hang out on and enjoy each other’s company — that sounded like the perfect wedding to us. Plus, the food is world-renowned!”
Scott also divulges that he and his bride-to-be snuck away to share a brief moment together before the ceremony.
“We wanted a nice, intimate moment, no cameras, no one else, just us,” he recalls. “Plus, I knew the moment I saw her I would start crying.”
He was not wrong. “As soon as we saw each other, we lost it,” says Phan, with Scott adding: “There were definitely a lot of ugly tears out of me, but Linda was beautiful. Crying or not, she was stunning.”
At the reception, the couple had a special surprise to share when they debuted an elaborate dance number that had been choreographed by Scott’s “Dancing With the Stars” dance partner Emma Slater and her husband, “DWTS” dancer Sasha Farber.
“I didn’t feel completely prepared and I kept tripping over my dress,” admits Linda, “but it was so much fun.”
Fun, in fact, was the guiding philosophy behind their wedding and the way they chose to celebrate it.
“We’re so easygoing, literally the wedding tent could blow away, the cake could fall flat and her dress could not show up, and it wouldn’t matter,” says Scott. “We just want to have family and friends together.”
Revealing they’ll be honeymooning in Ecuador (where they’ll continue to work with WE), the couple also discussed plans to start a family. “We’re excited to have kids,” says Scott. “I think Linda and I will be great parents, and we’re excited to start that chapter of our lives.”
