Prince Charles gave a “heartfelt” speech at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s lunchtime royal wedding reception on Saturday afternoon, it’s been reported.

One of the guests who attended the event, which was thrown by the Queen, said “Charles gave a brilliant speech.”

They told People: “Harry was very emotional,” before adding: “It was very sweet actually, very heartfelt.”

The source continued to say that Charles, who walked Meghan down the aisle at the ceremony, also said that he was incredibly proud of his son and the man that he had grown into.

The insider went on, “He ended it calling him, ‘My darling old Harry, I’m so happy for you,’ which was very sweet.”

“He said he was very pleased to be asked [to walk Meghan down the aisle] and happy to help out.”

Charles’ comments come after it was revealed Friday that Meghan had asked him to walk her down the aisle due to her father, Thomas, no longer being able to make it.

Thomas was said to have suffered a heart attack a couple of weeks ago before he had major heart surgery on Wednesday. He’s now thought to be on the mend.

Meghan started off her walk down the aisle solo before Charles met her halfway. The Prince of Wales had previously walked Alexandra Knatchbull, who is a close family friend, to the altar at her wedding to Thomas Hooper in 2016.
