Global’s newest comedy Truth Be Told features two couples who are best friends and talk just about everything. Turns out the cast is also pretty tight and sometimes the stuff they talk about makes it into the scripts.
“There’s been some crossovers from what’s happening on the show to what’s happened in reality,” explains Mark-Paul Gosselaar. “I’m just hoping some of my neighbours and some of my friends don’t catch the show.”
Vanessa Lachey, who plays Mark’s wife, agrees. “Sometimes I get the script and they’re like, ‘Oh we were thinking of you,’ and I’m like, Oh, is this what you think of us?“
As for whether set life and real life will combine to produce a cameo by Vanessa’s real-life husband Nick Lachey, the jury is still out. “I have talked to Nick about it,” explains Vanessa, “and he would love to do something fun. I don’t know what that would be, though.”
Before becoming a real-life family man Mark-Paul Gosselaar was Zack Morris on Saved By The Bell and Vanessa admits she was a fan. “Of course, who wasn’t?” But don’t hold your breath if you’re hoping for any appearances on Truth Be Told from Mark’s former castmates. “I don’t know, we haven’t discussed that,” he says, though Vanessa seems open to it: “Thanks for the idea!”
