Meghan Markle’s half-sister Samantha is not happy about being left out of the royal coat-of-arms tradition.
The Telegraph reported that Meghan’s father was not given a coat of arms, unlike Kate Middleton’s father, who was given one after his daughter married Prince William.
“To exclude him of a coat of arms is really stripping him of an honour and it’s a huge insult,” Samantha Markle told The Sun.
The tradition would have entitled Meghan to use her father’s coat of arms, as would her siblings.
According to The Daily Mail, the Queen decided to forgo the process of bestowing a coat of arms for Meghan’s father because it would be too “complicated,” requiring him to prove he has an ancestor who was a British subject.
In lieu of her father receiving a coat of arms, Meghan herself will receive one, which will not apply to any of her American family members.
“You’ve got inbreeding, you’ve got substance abuse, you’ve got alcohol abuse, you’ve got infidelity,” Samantha said. “On what grounds could the royals feel that the Markles are somehow not worthy?”
Meghan’s father did not attend her wedding to Prince Harry on Saturday due to a recent heart surgery.
