For a while it seemed as though the tabloid-ready shenanigans of Meghan Markle’s fractured family threatened to overshadow her royal wedding, what with her father being caught staging paparazzi photos before reportedly suffering a heart attack and undergoing surgery that prevented him from walking her down the aisle, let alone the steady stream of slams emanating from the Duchess of Sussex’s half-sister, Samantha Markle.
While TV viewers were caught up in the ongoing Markle family drama, the same was apparently true of the royals themselves, who could only wait and wonder what would be coming up next.
As People reports, this was the case with Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, who admitted that she was uncertain how things would unfold on the big day as Markle married her stepson, Prince Harry.
According to the mag, Camilla was speaking with reporters on Wednesday while promoting her new initiative to raise awareness of domestic violence, but also briefly discussed the wedding.
“It was such a lovely day. Just everything went right,” she told reporters, remarking: “We all wondered whatever would happen next and then everything went right.”
She added: “It’s nice to have something that is uplifting rather than depressing. Everything was just perfect, including the weather, which couldn’t have been better. It was a beautiful day. The only thing is that we are all losing our voices now!”
