Jimmy Fallon and Andy Cohen need to get on the same page.
The two celebrities struggled in a game of “Jinx” on Wednesday’s episode of “The Tonight Show”. Two teams – one comprised of Fallon and Cohen, the other consisting of Mindy Kaling and The Roots’ Tarik Trotter – slipped on “mind melding” gloves and were given three chances to guess the same word as their partner in a particular category.
For example, Kaling and Trotter’s category was “synonyms of marijuana.” Host Steve Higgins counted down from three and both members of the team shouted out a word in hopes of matching their partner identically.
But the real stars of the show were Fallon and Cohen, who were absolutely nutty as partners. The team’s category was “nuts,” and while Fallon shouted “peanuts,” Cohen conjured up “almonds.”
“Who the hell eats almonds?” the “Tonight Show” host demanded. “That is the most obvious nut, [peanut],” Cohen conceded. “I got it wrong.”
Each team is offered three chances to jinx and so Fallon and the “Watch What Happens Live” host gave it another spin. “Walnuts,” yelled Fallon… “cashews,” answered Cohen.
“There’s the word ‘nut’ in the name ‘walnut,'” Fallon chastised his partner. “Cashew? It doesn’t even have the word ‘nut’ in it? Almond doesn’t even have the word ‘nut.’ Peanut, walnut — names of nuts.”
For their third and final attempt, Fallon kept true to his theme and answered “hazelnut,” while Cohen took another stab at “almonds.” “It didn’t work the first time!” Fallon argued.
