Following her explosive 20/20 interview and today’s release of her Scientology tell-all book Troublemaker, Leah Remini speaks out even further in the upcoming cover story in PEOPLE, admitting she was “really touched”; by the statement Katie Holmes released, saying simply: “I regret having upset Leah in the past and wish her only the best in the future.”;
“I now see how hard things must have been for her and I’m so happy to see her and her daughter doing so well,”; says Remini, mother of an 11-year-old daughter. “I feel a kinship with her as a mother who wants do the right things for their child.”;

Remini admits that at the time she was “shocked”; to hear that Holmes had left the church, but now has a new-found respect for how difficult that decision must have been.
“I went from being very angry with Katie Holmes while she was in the church because she wrote these reports, which my ass was handed to me for… Then she leaves and I thought, that’s a ballsy move… As a mother I respect what she did.’ “
