Seth Rogen Admits ‘The Interview’ Was ‘A Bummer… I Won’t Be Making Any ISIS Movies Any Time Soon’

Despite the avalanche of headlines that accompanied the release of The Interview when the North Korean government threatened attacks on theatres that showed the controversial comedy, star Seth Rogen says the experience of the movie’s release — via streaming, bypassing a wide theatrical release — was not a positive one.

“It was a bummer,”; Rogen told Haute Living magazine (as reported by Huffington Post). “Would I make another movie about North Korea? Probably not — and I won’t be making any ISIS movies any time soon — but I’d say in general, overall, that it showed how effective a comedy can be, and how you can really get the attention you’re looking for.”;

However, he said that the reaction to the film — in which he and James Franco play a pair of inept wannabe assassins who attempt to kill North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un — points to the power of comedy. “It was sad, but also very creatively validating,”; he said. “We created a piece of art that was so talked about, and there’s something that’s validating about that.”;
