Melissa Gilbert says she removed her breast implants in 2015 and then stopped getting botox injections and fillers, and now, she isn’t looking back.
In an interview with People magazine, the “Little House On The Prairie” alum, 54, says it’s “one of the smartest things I’ve ever done.”
This sudden change in perspective comes after marrying Timothy Busfield, “Through his inspiration I found the courage to just be me,” she says. So, she decided now is the time to “age gracefully and appropriately and let my body and my face become whatever they are going to become.”
But Gilbert didn’t always feel that way, “The pressure that I put on myself was to stay as young as I could for as long as I could and remain an ingenue as long as I could, which is impossible.”
And she’s happy she made the change, “I just had to sit back and reevaluate and find my way, and I’m actually really glad that I did,” Gilbert says. “I feel healthier than I ever have, physically and emotionally. I’m stronger.”
She added, “I look great for my age and I feel great and I’m happy. I’m not saying I don’t have moments when I look in the mirror and go, ‘I’m a Shar Pei!’ I do have a Shar Pei puppy forehead on occasion, but it’s mine.”
