Kanye West’s new album dropped on Friday, and decided to launch the LP — titled simpley “Ye” — in a uniquely Yeezy way by inviting journalists, DJs and other media influencers to a listening party in advance of the album’s release.
According to Variety, there was one catch: the listening party is taking place at West’s home in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
As Variety‘s Jem Aswad writes, the event will be taking place on Thursday night, with West coming up with the idea on May 25 — the Friday before the Memorial Day long weekend in the U.S.
Things apparently got off to a bit of an inauspicious start when the party attendees arrived at the airport, where a private jet was to whisk them to Wyoming; unfortunately, a mixup in how many people had confirmed meant there wasn’t enough space on the plane for everyone, so 10 people were taken to a different airport after another jet was arranged.
Still, judging by this social media post from Aswad, the transportation doesn’t look too shabby:
Look for Variety and other media outlets in attendance to share their impressions of Yeezy’s latest LP (which is rumoured to be called “Love Everyone”).
For those who weren’t on a private jet bound for Jackson Hole, there was another way to hear the album on Thursday: download the Stationhead app (for iPhone users only) in order to listen in to the listening session live, starting at midnight ET.
Also unveiled at the listening party was the album cover, which West shot himself on the way to the soiree using his iPhone — which his wife revealed via Twitter:
