Kim Petras is responding to negative reaction regarding her past comments about Dr. Luke.
The pop starlet was recently added to Troye Sivan’s upcoming tour lineup and some fans found her involvement inappropriate. That is because of a statement Petras previously made about her positive experiences working with the controversial record producer.
“As I know him, he’s been really great and supportive to me and I’ve been learning a lot from him,” Petras once said in a chat with Interview. “He’s been a really nice person and I wasn’t there when that whole thing [with Kesha] went down, but from my experience, he’s a great guy and I’ve been having a good time working with him.”
Dr. Luke was accused of sexual assault by Kesha in a series of lawsuits.
In a follow-up statement, Petras opened up on Twitter about the backlash. “While I’ve been open and honest about my positive experience with Dr. Luke, that does not negate or dismiss the experience of others or suggest that multiple perspectives cannot exist at once,” she wrote. “I didn’t communicate this clearly in the past.”
Petras, 25, insisted she “always worked hard to create a safe, open and celebratory environment for his shows.”
Sivan’s 27-city North American tour begins Sept. 21 and makes it way to Laval on Oct. 11, Toronto on Oct. 15, and Vancouver on Nov. 8.
