Best known for playing psychotic serial killer Leatherface in the cult horror classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, actor Gunnar Hansen has passed away at age 68, reports TMZ.
Hansen first played Leatherface in 1974, not long after completing grad school, and “proudly revived the role in various forms over the years,”; notes TMZ.
In addition, Hansen parlayed his Chainsaw Massacre fame into a slew off horror roles over the years, including such films as Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers, Reykjavik Whale Watching Massacre and Swarm of the Snakehead. Hansen also wrote screenplays, books and documentaries.
Hansen died of pancreatic cancer.
