According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cohan will be “phased out” after six episodes of the new season. It is rumoured that Cohan is parting ways with the franchise in order to play the lead role in the upcoming ABC drama “Whiskey Cavalier”, after renegotiation to stay on “TWD” went south.

The news comes less than a week after the shocking announcement that Andrew Lincoln, who plays Sheriff Rick Grimes, would be departing the series at the end of season 9.
