Shawn Mendes is a special guest all this week on “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” and things got off to a somewhat tense start in the studio parking lot.

In the opening sketch to Monday’s show, the popular late-night host arrived at the CBS lot only to find the 19-year-old singer occupying his parking spot.

“What are you doing? That’s my parking space,” Corden told the “In My Blood” hitmaker.

“I mean, it says my name on it,” Mendes replied, pointing to a makeshift cardboard sign.

In order to get out of the awkward situation, Mendes pretended to have a “bad connection,” despite not being on a phone and speaking to Corden in person.

“If you need me I’ll be in your office napping. I’ll call you back when I get a better signal,” the pop heartthrob said as he swiftly made his exit.

Luckily there were no connection problems inside the studio when Mendes kicked off the night with a performance of his new single “Nervous.”

He also took part in a humorous edition of “Carpool Karaoke” where he revealed himself to be a huge “Harry Potter” fan and admitted that he’d buy Justin Bieber’s used underwear for $500.

Mendes will appear on “The Late Late Show” every night this week, performing more music and getting into various hijinx with Corden. Hopefully, they figure out the parking situation by the end of the week.
