Warner Bros. has compiled a shortlist of actors it would like to see in its upcoming reboot of “Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory”. At the top of the list: Ryan Gosling, Donald Glover, and Ezra Miller.
Collider reports the studio is eagerly courting Gosling, Glover, and Miller for the new movie, rumoured to be an origin story about how Wonka became a confectionery magnate and where exactly he met those Oompa Loompas.
Warner Bros. has a history with Gosling, having worked together on “Blade Runner 2049” and “The Nice Guys” among others, and with Miller, who has a lead role in the “Fantastic Beasts” franchise and plays The Flash in the DC Comics movie universe.
While Glover may seem to be busy with his acting gig on TV’s “Atlanta” — not to mention his film and music career — Collider‘s source alleges the actor is actively chasing the Wonka role.
One thing is for sure, the studio is definitely going in a different direction from their 2005 movie “Charlie And The Chocolate Factory” with Johnny Depp as the wacky chocolatier.
“Paddington” director Paul King is set to helm the Wonka prequel, which so far does not have a production start date.
